Chaplaincy

Chaplaincy at SPH

We are proud to be a Catholic Sixth Form and encourage all of our pupils to engage with the spiritual life of St Philp Howard, wherever they may be on their own journey with faith. The school and Sixth Form have a team of Chaplains who are well based in the school and welcome all students to come and visit if they want to speak about their faith. In addition to this we also have strong links with our parish and offer opportunities for students to support the Chaplaincy with outreach in our parish primary schools. Keen Sixth Formers are able to engage with opportunities such as a pilgrimage to Arundel Cathedral, Diocesan events at Worth Abbey, national events such as the Flame Congress, and the Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes.

Masses and Liturgies

A regular programme of Masses and Liturgies at key events in the church calendar, such as Advent and Lent, are held in the school and Sixth Formers are often able to take a leading role in these acts of worship by leading prayer, sharing readings or contributing musically. Sixth Formers can engage in Prayer and collective worship during weekly assemblies and tutor time. Our faith is central to everything we do here at St Philip Howard, and as part of their journey in the Sixth Form students will be offered the opportunity to engage with their faith through time in the Chapel, our annual Chaplaincy Conference, and other events throughout the year.
