Course Content

Students will explore the following general topics:

  • Theme 1: Changes in Spanish society (family, education and world of work),
  • Theme 2: political and artistic culture in Spanish speaking countries (music, media, festivals and traditions),
  • Theme 3: immigration and the Spanish multicultural society (immigration, the far right movement),
  • Theme 4: The Franco dictatorship and the transition to democracy.

Style Of Assessment

Paper 1:

  • Listening, reading and translation into English
  • 40%
  • 2 hours


Paper 2:
  • Essay on the film / book you have studied in class, and translation into Spanish
  • 30%
  • 2 hours 40 minutes


Paper 3:
  • Speaking on a topic you have researched
  • 30%
  • 21-23 minutes
