Course Content
Component 1: Theatre Workshop – 20%
- Create and develop a devised piece based on an extract from a text.
- Use the methodologies of a chosen theatre practitioner as a starting point.
- Centre choice of extract and practitioner.
- Performer or designer routes available.
- Internally assessed, externally moderated.
Component 2: Text in Action – 40%
Perform or design two pieces:
- One devised piece using the techniques of a different theatre practitioner than used in Component 1.
- One extract from a published play text.
- Centre choice of texts and practitioners.
- Live performance to a visiting examiner.
- Performer or designer routes available.
Component 3: Text in Performance – 40%
- Written examination (2 hours 30 minutes).
- Section A: Live Theatre Review – analysis and evaluation of a production seen.
- Section B: Study of a set text from the perspective of a performer, director, or designer.
- Section C: Study of a second set text in the style of a chosen practitioner, with a focus on reinterpretation for a contemporary audience.
A choice from prescribed set texts and practitioners lists.
